Basically when I sit at idle with the car running and in park for 10 - 15 minutes, I will get a message saying that I am not in park, the P on the dash and the rotory shifter blinks and to says to service the transmission. Check engine light comes on ...It will crank strong, but not start. Sometimes it will catch momentarily but not run. Fuel Pump runs at key on (Fp relay checks OK) Cranks Strong. No Spark at plug. No Spark at coil wire. Ignition Relay passes the continuity checks in the manual. ASD Relay clicks on with key on. ASD Relay passes the continuity checks in the manual.

My 99 did that to me a couple years ago. My problem was a melted wire. One of my plug wires popped out of the retainer and had sat on top of the valve cover for an undetermined amount of time. After you do this, make sure you let the engine idle in park for 10 minutes or so, then take it out on a normal drive. This "re-educates" the PCM. If you've recently replaced, or disconnected the battery, or PCM, this may be your original solution anyhow ...

My 14 did this for a while, it was mainly after it sat for a few hours.
