Hey y'all, Post-match MS4 here, matched IM and trying to figure out what direction I want my life to go in. I really enjoyed the pathology of Cards and Heme Onc, so right now its definitely cards = heme onc > PCP, with PCP mainly an option because of not having to do years of fellowship and little to no call. LifestyleThe MKSAP heme/onc book is what a very good internist is expected to know about the field, so if you just commit yourself to memorizing it you should be solid for starting fellowship. New drugs not as exciting as in oncology. Onc: less hands on/more cerebral. Much more meaningful relationships with your patients, most of which will be seeing you for the biggest/most difficult event of their lives. Depending on what area of Onc may have a lot of sad cases. New tech/drugs are pretty exciting tho.Depends on the Kaiser location, some are 4 days, some 5. I think 308k for 4d/week and 385k for full-time 5d/week . If you have a choice i.e. not restricted geographically then would avoid 5day oncology clinic by any means neccessary. Yes - it is possible to do an ABIM pathway, in which (if accepted) one does two years of IM and then 4-4.5 years of Heme/Onc fellowship + research.
