I like the concept, but prefer the idea of a heavily worked factory head. I started a build of a SJ 327 block with an older aftermarket 3.48” SJ crank. I was going to run it in my 57 with ported aluminum speedway motors camel hump heads, modified to take a staggered valve cover, and a heavily worked factory intake.Bill, You can angle mill those heads down to 57.5cc I know for a fact. In Super Stock the most desired casting is the -041 and -291 depending on lass and HP. The -291 in my opinion is very close to the 461/462 heads, Just the guys that port the SS heads say the casting is better with the -291 heads and -041's.Do any of the aftermarket head manufacturers produce a Chevy head without accessory holes or the flat machined pads on the ends? In other words, power pack or camel hump look-a-likes. You would think that there would be a market for good nostalgia motor heads.

The real oddball is the 1987-95 pattern that looks like the 55-86 pattern but uses a different angle on the plenum bolts.
For instance, the camel hump symbol (also called double hump) can be found on 461, 461X, 462, and 291 casting heads. The 492, 292, and 186 heads have a slightly different looking camel hump.
